"Hardcore that’s well recorded and executed…they have lots of style , plus punkrockin drive and fury…really good.. check them out!.” – Spamm – Volume 1 issue VII.

Classic early 80’s hardcore/punk! RING 13 hailed from Dekalb,IL and were a first wave hardcore/punk band from 83-85. On this release is the original Nothing New Nothing Learned full length ( for the first time ever on vinyl ) fully restored and remastered. Of course there is brand new liner notes from the band as well as lyrics and photos.

In 2007 RING 13 was asked to play a fest in their home town. So they got back together and played the fest and kept things going. Then in 2013 they headed back in the studio and recorded 5 new songs for a release called Rub the Lamp that has not seen the light of day till now. They took a more ‘left of the dial’ approach and turned out 5 really good catchy tuneful songs that would defiantly have made a huge impact had they come out in the early 80's . A special insert with lyrics , liners and photos is included for these songs as well.

In short 19 songs of first wave early 80’s hardcore/punk history! “

I'm sitting here in my apt. building spying into other people lives I've got my binoculars focused on apt. 25 I see little girls, I see older men, I see people getting fried and then I hear those sirens and see the police come by but now I'm sitting here and I'm thinking what I've done this peeping tom life isn't always fun but there's just one thing that gives me hope and oh no that's not smoking dope it's knowing apt. 25, is always there for me well they though I'd learned my lesson well I guess I fooled them all cause I'm walking to my building now I'm running through the halls and I look outside my window and much to my surprise I see them at it one more time, bring joy back to my eyes but now I realize that I must give it up cause now I'm back here in this rut cause I can't do this all my life cause I'd probably end it with a knife and suicide, is not what I want right now well now I've got a wife, and now we've got some kids and he just found my binoculars and guess what he done did he went looking through the window and that reminded me of me he said "daddy daddy daddy I just watched a man go pee" so why must I hide my head, maybe I'd been better off dead but I can't take it again the humiliation that I went through, I'd hoped never happed to you but just like Harry said, my boy was just like me

they show you on the TV, to be all you can be but that's not all that I see, I see the Government lying to me the murdered, the handicapped, that is how much, how much you can be the aftermath is none to be proud, I just like to turn my head in awe but I've just got to remember, it's quick, it's easy and it's the law so I say to you, the man in shiny black shoes I'll find a job and I'll find it without you

What if Jesus was a bastard (alien) as the sperm given was God's would that change history, lay doubt on belief it's just a thought to think, is it wrong to be...Questioningly What if T-Rex was a scavanger, couldn't run fast at all would that change history, lay doubt on belief is it wrong to be...Questioningly it's just a thought to think (that we are free) is it wrong to be (and we don't need) it's just a thought to think (anything) it's just a thought to think (that we can't see) is it wrong to be (everything) it's just a thought to think (that is in front of us, we choose not to believe) What if the ice caps were melting as we watched them fade away would that change the future if denial ruled the day just a thought to think, is it wrong to be...Questioningly

She got kicked from Baltimore too drunk to let it pass they won't, hold her back looking at each other they thought time had never passed they won't, won't look back, don't look back First time that they met it was already too late, so unaware the times that change they're still the same you try and not forget, so unfair Time will pass whatever circumstance will bright it back around familiar as the last but different none the less if you let it happen it just might work again but new for you again to go through... don't look back eyes wide open never wake cast underneath then wet, never again nothing new nothing learned was more than a cassette now as well as then... don't look back Time will pass whatever circumstance will bright it back around familiar as the last but different none the less if you let it happen it just might work again but new for you again to go through... don't look back

It's been this way forever, who are you to change things...change don't stand up sit down disagree, don't talk shut up but listen to me where were you when we all were there, your dangerous ideas, you just don't care we've done our time so we deserve, we're not the best but it's our turn so take your place amongst the herd and go away, don't disturb your age it shows for God's sake, leave the show to us here, have a drink and go away...go away don't stand up sit down disagree, don't talk shut up but listen to me where were you when we all were there, your dangerous ideas, you just don't care we've done our time so we deserve, we're not the best but it's our turn so take your place amongst the herd and go away, don't disturb

about

RING 13 De Kalb, Illinois

Ring 13 started in early 1983 and later they went to see the Circle Jerks and the Clitboys at Tuts in Chicago 4/10/83 which completely blew them away! Ring 13 saw the Ramones in DeKalb a few years earlier, 1980, which got them inspired enough to stay on the path of punk rock. So to basically paraphrase Field Of Dreams, if the Ramones play, kids will follow (a Replacements nod too). ... more
